From the Mayor's Desk - March 2017
March is looking a lot like February so far, which looked a lot like January, which was a lot like January, we all get the point. Winter is not in any hurry to leave yet and there are still tons of tree branches all over our city.
There has been one formal cleanup day so far and we will be getting together again this month to do more work, but it’s still very disconcerting to see all the damage around town.
The Skamania Pioneer has us on the front page this week with two articles, one about our new City Administrator and one about the storm damage which also lets everyone in our area know we have a lot of potential fire wood around our community and that it is up for grabs for anyone with a vehicle to haul it away. If you or anyone you know has a wood burning stove or fireplace it’s worth mentioning that the majority of the downed branches are oak, which burns very well and doesn’t leave a lot of residue, and this is a great opportunity to save some money on firewood.
For those who are not aware of our newest employee, I’m happy to inform you Sam Hughes is our new City Administrator. She comes to us from Yakima with an impressive resume and has already hit the ground running. I won’t recap the Pioneer article but I will invite you to stop by City Hall to welcome her to our community and maybe have a little visit when you have a chance.
Also, don’t forget to set your time keeping devices ahead one hour on Sunday, March 12th, as we get back on Daylight Savings Time. As always, if you have any comments, suggestions or early Easter Peeps you’re trying to unload, please contact me here at City Hall at 427-8182 or by don [at] northbonneville.net (subject: A%20message%20from%20North%20Bonneville%20website) (email.)
