From the Mayor's Desk - June 2016

Welcome to summer! Our weather is still on the inconsistent side with almost daily changes from sunny and warm to cloudy and cool (with the usual showers thrown in for good measure), but overall it’s definitely feeling more like the cold, wet weather is behind us and the time has come to think about getting outdoors to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.

Speaking of outdoor activities, we have rescheduled the ColorDash 5K for Saturday, August 6th. By moving the date back we will have nicer weather and more time to advertise the event in order to bring in more runners. If you were already signed up to run you should have received a notification regarding the date change. If you were signed up to volunteer we hope you will be able to join us on the new date.

We are also in full-blown lawn mowing/yard work season. Please remember that the local yard debris areas around town are meant for grass, small plant trimmings and branches less than 3 inches in diameter. Please do not dump larger branches or trees and do not dump trash of any kind. These areas have been provided as a service to us all and we want to continue to provide this benefit, but if the areas are abused they may have to be closed down.

I would like to thank everyone who has responded positively to our focus on overnight on-street parking. It is in all our best interests to keep our streets open in case of fire or other emergency.

As always, if you have any comments, suggestions or extra treats, please contact me here at City Hall at 427- 8182 or via email.
