From the Mayor's Desk - May 2016
As we move into May, we will see several city infrastructure projects getting started.
- Lift station 3, near the boat launch area at the southeast end of Greenleaf Lake, will be undergoing a much needed rebuild over the next month or so.
- The resurfacing project for Evergreen Drive will be getting started soon too.
- The first step in the Evergreen Drive project will be replacing the section of the transite pipe that connects our water reservoirs to the main water lines that serve our entire city.
The work on the lift station shouldn’t cause much in the way of traffic delays, but the Evergreen project certainly will. We will do all we can to keep at least one lane open throughout the project but there is a possibility there will be a short term closure and detour near the Highway 14 intersection. There will be flaggers and signage in place during the project and we ask for your patience and cooperation as we get this section of Evergreen Drive back in shape.
As I mentioned last month, there will be a ColorDash 5K Run at the end of the month, Saturday, May 28th, and we’re looking for volunteers to help with a number of tasks, including helping with registration, traffic control and throwing colors on the runners as they pass through the color stations. If you’ve never experienced a ColorDash, you’re in for a lot of fun. Whether you choose to run or walk, volunteer to help or just watch the event as a spectator. I hope you will all choose to participate at some level and support our community.
