From the Mayor's Desk - July 2014

It’s July and that means Gorge Days is just around the corner. This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better than last year, which is no small feat.

The festivities kick off Friday with the start of our citywide garage sale from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Mo Phillips music show at the library from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m., the Farm-to-Table Benefit dinner from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., the Bonneville Hot Springs Resort’s beer and wine garden from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., also from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The Shillings will be providing more live music and the North Bonneville Event Center will host a photography exhibit followed by Open Mike Friday at 8:00 p.m.

The wonderful folks at Beacon Rock Golf Course will be offering $4.95 Box Lunch Specials from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to keep your energy levels up for all that “garage-saleing”. (I think that’s a real term.) Call 427-5730 to pre-order & your lunch will be waiting for you when you get there.

The Classic Car Cruise-in will be staging vehicles from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. prior to heading out on the road and touring our community so keep your eyes peeled for some killer cars on our city streets.

Saturday kicks off at 8:00 a.m. with Breakfast in the Park hosted by the Bonneville Hot Springs Resort. Breakfast will run until noon for any late risers and at noon the beer and wine garden reopens with service until 6:00 p.m.

Registration and staging for the Too Hot for the Streets Car Show begins at 9:00 a.m. with the awards ceremony at 3: p.m. During and after the car show, there will be food vendors, the library’s used book sale, the Kids Fun Zone, a watermelon eating contest and a host of other activities for kids of all ages. Remember, we don’t stop having fun because we get old; we get old because we stop having fun.

Speaking of fun, Hit Machine takes the stage at 4:00 p.m. for a free concert that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. More info is available at City Hall, the Chamber of Commerce office and online at www.gorgedays.net and on the North Bonneville Gorge Days page on Facebook. Isn’t technology great?
