From the Mayor's Desk - June 2013
As a longtime baseball fan, I always enjoyed hearing Harry Caray say, “Holy Cow!” And I shared that same sense of excitement and joy when I realized Gorge Days is only about a month away!
We are super excited to have Johnny Limbo & the Lugnuts back again. They will be performing a free concert from 4pm to 6pm to wrap things up Saturday night, but don’t miss out on any of the other fun, educational and/or stimulating events going on Friday, July 5th and Saturday, July 6th.
Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts’ appearance here a couple years ago was great and we’re hoping to see a lot more people enjoying their unique mix of 50s, 60s and 70s music. Whether you like Three Dog Night, Chuck Berry or The Beach Boys, you’re bound to hear something that will get your toes tapping. If you want to take advantage of the citywide garage sale to clean out your garage and make a little extra spending money contact Darlene Caird at 427-2280 to get on the list. The citywide garage sale will take place from 9am to 4pm on both days.
Friday’s highlights include a barbeque dinner from 5pm to 7pm and a sock hop from 6pm to 8pm. There will also be a beer garden from 5pm to 8pm. They will all happen in the parking lot in front of City Hall where the Friday Night Cruise will start at 8pm.
In addition to Saturday’s Too Hot for the Streets Car Show the day will be filled with tons of other activities including the Kid’s Fun Zone in the city park, a “Find the Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt”, a watermelon eating contest , a Volks Walk, an Elvis impersonator and the Friends of the Library used book sale. There will also be numerous vendors selling food and merchandise in the park.
For a full schedule you can check the Gorge Days Website or stop by City Hall or the Chamber of Commerce office in Stevenson.
